Know and Manage Your Cholesterol Levels
Knowlege and Control of Your Cholesterol is
Vital to Your Health.. and Relates to Weight

How's the health looking these days? Do
you have any clue what your health chart would even look like?
I actually had the pleasure of seeing mine. It was interesting
to say the least. You see, I was getting a new insurance plan.
So of course the company had someone sent to my home in order
to draw blood and assess my health situation. The cool thing
about this is they give you the results and you get to see how
your overall health is looking. I mean it's an entire rundown
of things. Anything from your cholesterol level, to your heart
rate, to your iron. This is certainly an ideal way to see where
you stand, health-wise. I was stoked to see that my cholesterol
level was higher than normal. That's not too good! It was
in an acceptable, but high, range and I was told I should have
a follow up appointment with my doctor. I'm also in the higher
than desired weight category, so this did not really surprise
me. You can tell with weight, but it's never simple to tell
just by looking at someone. However, that darn high
cholesterol is something that just sneaks up on you.
Do you have high cholesterol? Okay, the fact of the matter
is, you probably don't know unless you've had it checked out.
By the way, this is not a bad idea. You can never be too
careful about your cholesterol level. As we all know, high
cholesterol can certainly affect your heart and overall
condition. If you do have high cholesterol, there are certain
things you can do to bring it down. For example, what are you
eating on a regular basis? It's imperative to know what you're
consuming and how much fat and cholesterol is involved. The
last thing you want is clogged arteries. A variety of products
such as potato chips, cheese, and ice cream are all high in
cholesterol. Although many of us love these foods to death,
they can be harmful to our health. This is why it's mandatory
to consume these foods in moderation. It's a great way to avoid
high cholesterol. In addition, the drug companies are
constantly coming up with new ideas regarding high cholesterol.
If you've spoken with your family doctor about high cholesterol
lately, then you surely know there are a few innovative drugs
on the market that have been proven to lower cholesterol. This
may be exactly what you're looking for to deal with your high
cholesterol. If you are in need of more information concerning
high cholesterol, it is wise to hop on the Internet. The
World-Wide-Web offers a deluge of data regarding virtually
anything you desire. Get online now and become aware of the
dangers that go with having high cholesterol.
Now much of what I've just written is common knowledge.
Before I go any farther, I'll tell you I have some very firm
feelings about the medical and pharmaceutical industries. If
you are a "Rush Limbaugh" listener, you've heard it said many
times: "Follow the Money Trail" and the big money is in
the medical pharmaceutical industry. People don't manufacture
drugs just for altruistic reasons. If there wasn't a healthy
profit in this, there'd not be that many. As to the
medical profession, a very large majority of physicans treat
symptoms and problems rather than deal with causes. High
cholesterol is one of those areas.
There's no doubt that Lipitor is one of
the comercially most successful drugs on the market today. It
works for most people, and my own doctor said he'd either take
it himself or prescribe it for a family member if the need was
there. He might. My doctor wanted to start me on
this product.. but I have this thing about taking drugs.
You should too. Just because some guy in a white coat that went
to college umteen years tells you to take this or that,
or you see a TV commercial, "Ask Your Doctor...." you
need to get all the information, including if you have any
alternative options. Maybe things that work on the causes and
not treating the symptoms.
Get a package insert. Read and study. Maybe only 2% of all
people (in this case, taking Lipitor) have liver failure. If
there's an option, and you only have one liver, would you want
to take that risk? It's funny, maybe only 2% of the
people who play the Lottery know they will ever be a big
winner.. yet they play because they know there's a chance. But
if the same odds were there but the prize was a fatal one,
would you still "play"?
The fact is that there ARE alternatives to many prescription
drugs... but they are much lower cost and because of the money
trail, you don't get the intensive study and double blind
tests, etc that drives the conventional pharmaceutical
industry.. so for very sound economic reasons, you just don't
hear about them. They are "out there" and available.. but
you again have to do your research. There's as many "whacko"
firms peddling pills and cures as there are good ones.
The good news is that there are legitimate specialst
naturalists and even some very knowledgable
chiropractors. DO YOUR RESEARCH before you pop your first
pill.
In the case of Cholesterol, a product generally known as
Policosanol is effective.. and does not have the side effects.
No, I will not pretend to tell you what to take. The whole
point here is that there ARE alternatives and you owe it to
yourself to know the risks and to do the research. I did,
and without LIPITOR, my cholesterol is under control.
